This is a brilliant effort from Siduri. The 2001 Pinot Noir Cargasacchi Vineyard (172 cases produced from Clone 115) exhibits a saturated ruby/purple color in addition to profound Pinot aromas of blackberries, cherries, and a notion of ink. It tastes like the distilled essence of Pinot Noir, which no doubt will make it controversial with those looking for lighter-styled/diluted Pinots. This is an intense, thick, unctuously-textured offering that needs time to develop more aromatics. One of the most concentrated Pinots I have tasted from California, give it 2-3 years of cellaring and enjoy it over the following 10-12.
