Orlando Pecchenino’s 2010 Barolo San Giuseppe excels in terms of elegance and harmony, especially given the balanced nature of the 2010 vintage. There’s an ethereal and feminine quality on display that emerges immediately thanks to aromas of wet asphalt, tar, pressed cherry, forest berry and tobacco ash. Although it is celebrated for its Barbera, Pecchenino shows a deft hand with the finicky Nebbiolo grape. The results here speak in clear tones with bright berry flavors and a long, satisfying finish. In addition to oak barrel, Barolo San Giuseppe refines in cement vats as well. Drink: 2016-2025.
