The 1996 Pinot Noir Marjorie Vineyard, now at 20-years-old, has a lovely bouquet with dark berry fruit, cola, damp peaty woodland aromas and a mulch-like scent. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, Japanese nori, quite a potent sea influence here, but perhaps just beginning to show some dryness towards the finish. Still, this is an impressive Oregon Pinot Noir considering its age, though I would enjoy it sooner rather than later.
