The 1997 Pinot Noir Marjorie Vineyard has aged beautifully, offering singular and fully mature aromas of dried hollyhock and autumn leaves, mushroom powder, aged sake, leather and hoisin with notes of graphite, earth and dried black cherries. It’s light-bodied and silky in the mouth with lovely tertiary character, still retaining some grip and freshness and finishing long. Cristom started adding fruit from younger vines to the blend in 2013, so this was made entirely from the original own-rooted vines planted in 1982. It was made with 33% whole clusters and aged 16 months in 83% new French oak before being bottled. 481 cases were made.
