The 2009 Dolcetto d’Alba Vilot is a wonderfully plump, fleshy Dolcetto loaded with varietal dark red fruit. Flowers, mint and licorice add complexity on the finish. This soft, engaging Dolcetto is an excellent choice for drinking over the next two to three years. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2014. Giuseppe Caviola is best known as the consulting oenologist to a number of top estates in Piedmont, but the wines he makes at his winery in Dogliani are equally deserving of attention.
