The white Rioja from Sierra Cantabria, the 2005 Organza, is a blend of 50% Viura, 25% Malvasia, and 25% Garnacha Blanca that was barrel fermented in new French oak and aged sur-lie for three months with twice-weekly batonnage. Light gold-colored, the oak influence is subdued aromatically with just a hint of vanilla spice. Other aromas include crisp lemon-lime, acacia, and honeysuckle. On the palate the wine has attractive flavors and good balance but could use more concentration. Drink this pleasant wine over the next 1-2 years.
