The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon “Boundaries” spent 30 months in oak, 30% new American and 70% used French. Purple-colored, it presents a complex bouquet of cedar, leather, scorched earth, smoke, olives, cassis, and black currants. Made in a racy, sleek style, this Cabernet seems to dance across the palate into a pure, long finish. It has some silky tannins which will allow the wine to evolve for 2-3 years. Drink it through 2020. Rusden is owned by Dennis and Christian Canute with the talented Christian serving as winemaker. The vines were planted in the early 1970s in the tenderloin of the Barossa. Christian Canute has a unique ability to produce wines of great finesse combined with the intensity and power obtained from Barossa Valley fruit.Importer: Dan Philips, The Grateful Palate, Oxnard, CA; www.rusdenwines.com.au; Also tasted: 2006 Chenin Blanc “Christian” (83)
