Morgante’s 2008 Nero d'Avola is a delicious entry-level wine bursting with dark fruit, spices and French oak. This is without question a powerful style of Nero d’Avola where the oak has added a measure of textural richness and complexity. In another few months the wine should be even more integrated. Morgante is an excellent Sicilian estate that has shown consistency in quality throughout the years. This fruit-filled Nero d’Avola would pair well with veal encrusted with chopped pistachio or pork marinated in garlic and rosemary.
