The 1994s are excellent to outstanding, exhibiting plenty of opulence, power, and sweet fruit. The 1994 Cote Rotie La Viaillere reveals a dense ruby/purple color, good opulence and richness, and, fortunately, none of the rustic, animal-like character that Rostaing's father-in-law, Albert Dervieux, used to routinely obtain in this wine. The 1994 possesses admirable suppleness and purity, although Rostaing feels it is the most rustique wine in his portfolio. My tasting notes indicate it is already delicious and should continue to drink well for another 10-12 years. Importer: Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, CA; tel (510) 524-1524
