The estate’s 2003 Corbaia is a blend of 70% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet aged for two years in small French oak barrels. It is a gorgeous, full-bodied effort packed with dark fruit, cassis, licorice and balsamic notes that flow from the glass, showing outstanding length and fine overall balance, with the Sangiovese providing the acidity that keeps the wine fresh. Corbaia is Sangiovese and Cab Sauvignon from the southern part of Chianti Classico where temperatures are a bit warmer and the soils a bit thicker.
