The 2005 Old Vines Gran Reserva (100% Tempranillo) is the most oak influenced in this collection having spent 24 months in barrel and 36 months in bottle prior to release. It exhibits an enticing nose of smoke, violets, tobacco, mineral, blackberry, and plum. In the mouth it reveals some density, moderate structure, a bit of complexity, and a seamless finish. It could well evolve for 2-3 years and will offer a drinking window extending from 2012 to 2020. Navarro Lopez’s new releases once again offer considerable value.
