Representing a big leap in quality, the black/purple-tinged 2009 Crozes-Hermitage La Chasseliere displays some evidence of oak, but the wine is dominated by black olive/tapenade notes intermixed with cassis, licorice, Christmas fruitcake, roasted meats and herbs. This broad, voluptuous beauty can be enjoyed over the next decade.
From their holdings in three major appellations, St.-Joseph, Cornas and Crozes-Hermitage, Michelas St.-Jemms produces an impressive array of wines. Moreover, prices are extremely reasonable.
