Slightly better, with a similar medium to full-bodied, textured profile, the 2011 Crozes Hermitage La Chasseliere exhibits notes of plum sauce, ground herbs, charred earth and violets to go with a nicely concentrated, fleshy mouth feel. Aged in both foudre and oak tanks, drink it over the coming 8-10 years.
I had a fantastic visit at this family owned estate. Covering over 80 acres in Saint Joseph, Cornas and Crozes Hermitage, they release a number of cuvees from each appellation, all of which are of high quality and worth seeking out. In addition, prices remain more than reasonable.
