The deep ruby/purple-colored, mouth-staining 1996 Teroldego Sgarzon reveals evidence of new oak aging in its powerful, full-bodied personality. The predominant aromas in the nose are smoke, pain grille, and jammy cassis. Thickly-textured, full-bodied, powerful, and macho, this intense, chewy wine lacks the potential complexity and silkiness of the 1997 Teroldego Rotaliano, but it is an impressive, full-flavored, dry red from northern Italy. It will age well for at least a decade.Importer: Vias Imports, New York, NY; tel. (212) 629-0200
