Nothing in particular stands out in Le Gode’s 2008 Brunello di Montalcino. Instead, this is a wine of total finesse and elegance. Ripe, silky tannins support a core of expressive fruit as the 2008 opens up in the glass. New leather, tobacco and cloves add complexity on a round, supple finish. The 2008 isn’t super complex or structured but it is drop-dead gorgeous, even today. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2020.
