The two Monastrell (Mourvedre) cuvees come from vines planted in 1967, and spend three months in French oak prior to bottling. The 2012 VSL Monastrell reveals sweeter black cherry and black currant fruit, an earthy character, sweet tannin, decent acidity and an intriguing floral elegance. Drink it over the next 1-2 years.
