The 2007 Estela de Arrayan is composed of 60% Syrah with the balance Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot aged for 17 months in new French oak. A glass-coating opaque purple color leads to a brooding bouquet of pain grille, lead pencil shavings, game, incense, blueberry, and blackberry aromas. Dense, plush, with ample underlying structure, this large-scaled, but well-proportioned effort will evolve for at least another 4-5 years and provide a drinking window extending from 2015 to 2022, if not longer.
Bodegas Arrayan, located in the north of La Mancha in a region known as Mentrida, has turned out a pleasant Rose made from a blend of Syrah, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot fermented and aged in stainless steel.
