Aged in 30% in new oak and completely de-stemmed, the 2013 Savigny les Beaune 1er Cru Marconnets has a blackberry, briary and forest-floor bouquet: introverted at first, but nicely defined. The palate is medium-bodied with smooth tannin, well-judged acidity, albeit just missing some complexity on the rather conservative finish. Not a bad Savigny, but lacking much in the way of excitement.
