The 2018 Barolo Villero shows unexpected intensity and character, especially for a vintage that is more subdued overall. The bouquet opens to wide aromas of dried cherry and wild plum with spice and crushed stone at the back. The grapes are fermented in steel before going into oak for aging. This is layered and rich on the close with a note of saltiness to cap it off. 4,300 bottles were produced.

Spicy, this red exhibits cherry, currant and floral flavors allied to a sleek, light-bodied frame. Supple in texture, picking up a dusting of tannins on the fresh finish. Best from 2024 through 2037. 450 cases made, 50 cases imported.??–BS??Region: Italy / Piedmont / Barolo Select to Add
