The 2005 Malpaso is 100% Syrah aged for 6 months in 500 liter barrels. Opaque purple in color, the wine’s perfume is a melange of smoke, sausage, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur. The wine’s full-bodied personality is marked by opulent, spicy black fruit flavors, well-concealed tannin, and a long, pure finish. Give it 2-4 years more in bottle and drink it through 2017.
