The 2011 Rosso Piceno is chock full of fruit. Laila's Rosso Piceno isn't going to win any awards for finesse, but this joyous, hearty Montepulciano/Sangiovese blend is bursting with energy and sheer richness. Hints of leather, spices and grilled herbs inform the rustic, chewy finish. At $12.00 a bottle the 2011 is a terrific value. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2014.
