The 2013 Syrah Eddie’s Patch comes from volcanic red soils and shows tightly knit blueberry and blackberry fruit with some camphor, charcoal and barbecue notes. It is highly extracted, intense, full-bodied and rich. It reminds me of a California version of a serious Crozes-Hermitage. Give it several years of cellaring and drink it over the following 15 or so years. About 30% whole clusters were used during fermentation.
