In 1995, yields were much smaller than 1994, with the production ranging from 18 hectoliters per hectare (Cote Blonde), to 25 hectoliters per hectare (Cuvee Classique). Rostaing says he has never seen such exceptional physiological ripeness with such high natural acidity. As a consequence, most of his wines finished with very low PH's of 3.48-3.5. The 1995 Cote Rotie Cuvee Classique possesses a black-raspberry and violet-scented nose, a fabulous saturated ruby/purple color, excellent ripeness, and density, and a long, medium-bodied, crisp finish. The acidity gives the wine superb delineation and vibrancy. This wine should drink well for at least a decade. Importer: Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, CA; tel (510) 524-1524
