Last year, I was impressed with proprietor Ghislaine Carre's 1990 red Chateauneuf du Pape. However, the richness and intensity that existed in foudre is no longer apparent now that the wine has been bottled. I suspect a heavy filtration has eviscerated this wine. What a shame! All that is left is a round, sweet, commercial style of Chateauneuf du Pape, with light intensity, albeit pretty cherry aromas and soft, medium-bodied, straightforward fruit flavors. It should be drunk over the next 3-4 years.
