From 70-year-old vines that tend to produce small bunches, the 2015 Meursault 1er Cru les Bouchères demanded some coaxing from the glass, ultimately yielding orange zest, granitic scents, a touch of sea spray. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, nice tension here with a crisp, slightly austere finish that nevertheless displays fine precision. This is one of the best from winemaker Patrick Essa this year.
