Christom's 1992 Pinot Noir Reserve is a light ruby-colored wine that exemplifies the finesse-styled Pinot Noir. It reveals a gorgeously fresh, pure bouquet of cherries, spice, and new oak. Medium-bodied, with some acidity lurking in the background, this round, delicious Pinot should drink well for the next 3-4 years.
A new player on the Oregon wine scene, with its vineyards just beginning to come into production, Christom is the property of transplanted Easterner Paul Gerrie, who had the foresight to hire Steve Doerner, formerly Calera's talented winemaker. Christom should be a major player, especially once their own vineyards come into production. Currently the wines are made from purchased fruit. Tel. (503) 375-3068.
