I've long been a fan of Cristom's wines. Paul Gerrie and Steve Doerner produce lush, forward Pinots that provide enormous pleasure from the day they are released. In the 1995 vintage, however, their Marjorie and Mt. Jefferson cuvees cannot be recommended and the Reserve Pinot Noir, while very good to excellent, lacks the generous, luscious personality that I look for in Cristom's wines. Nevertheless, it is a very good, medium-to-dark ruby-colored wine offering aromas of currants, raspberries and truffles, an oily texture and a deep, medium-to-full-bodied core of blueberries and blackberries. Lastly, warm whiskey notes can be discerned in its long dry finish. Drink it between 1998-2001. Tel. (503) 375-3068.
