The 2008 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon was aged in French oak for 10-12 months. It is a glass-coating opaque purple with an excellent perfume of cedar, smoke, mineral, and black currant. Medium-bodied, it has layers of savory black fruit, succulent flavors, a firm structure, and a lengthy finish. Although it will evolve for another 1-2 years it can be enjoyed now. Finca Sophenia produces all of its wines from estate fruit with the exception of the Torrontes. We have not been impressed with this Cab in recent years. This vintage is mulchy, raisiny and baked, with prune-like core flavors and a medicinal, cooked finish. Hard, tannic and not that well balanced.——M.S.(5/1/2010)—— 82
