The dark ruby/purple-colored 1998 Barolo Cerequio is structured and backward. It emerges from a south-facing vineyard from which Angelo Gaja produces his Conteisa. This tannic, structured, rigidly-styled Barolo is loaded with black cherry fruit, rose petal, and tar notes. It will emerge from its tannic cloak in 4-5 years, and will evolve for two decades. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2020.
