The entry level 2006 Pinot Noir Jamsheed is dark ruby-colored, and offers up a pleasant aroma of spice box and black fruits in a straightforward style. It is an easygoing wine for drinking over the next several years. Maysara Winery began in 1997 when Mo Momtazi purchased his McMinnville vineyard. There are now 225 acres planted and certified biodynamic. The winery’s first vintage was 2001. Currently 8000 cases are produced with Mo’s daughter, Tahmiene, serving as winemaker. Tel. Maysara embraced biodynamic viticulture well before it became fashionable, but it is rare to find a Pinot Noir from anywhere that is biodynamically farmed and loaded with such diverse and complex flavors, at such a budget price. The sweet red fruits run through the gamut of berries, spices and light herb.
