This 20-acre estate, run with considerable precision by Gerard Boudot, is among the top dozen or so producers of white Burgundy. 1994 is a very good vintage for white Burgundy, as evidenced by the following wines. The 1994 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts (about two-thirds from the domaine's estate and the balance from purchased grapes) is a mineral, terroir-dominated wine with a gravelly character to its ripe, rich, medium to full-bodied personality. It possesses exceptional concentration, purity, and length as well as attractive notes of butter, smoke, vanilla, minerals, and ripe, citrusy fruit dominating the olfactory senses and palate. It should drink well for 5-8 years. Vineyard Brands, Inc., Chester, VT; tel. (802) 875-2139; fax (802) 875-3566
