Servelle's superb 1991 Clos de Vougeot exhibits a dark ruby/purple color, and an explosive nose of jammy black and red fruits and toasty new oak. Rich, unctuous, and opulent, it possesses layers of flavor without the harsh tannins that afflict many 1991s. The finish is persuasively long and well-balanced. Drink it over the next 10-12 years.Daniel Servelle irrefutably made better 1991s than 1990s. Low yields and the fact that the wines are now going into the bottle unfiltered have made a difference. These are wines of unmistakable charm and elegance, yet they are imbued with plenty of rich, sweet fruit. These immensely impressive wines are the best I have tasted from this up and coming domaine.Importer: Louis/Dressner Selections, New York, NY.
