The purple-colored 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve displays a brooding bouquet of smoke, pencil lead, espresso, black currant, and blackberry. This leads to a firm, very tannic wine whose balance is in question. It is possible that extended cellaring may round it out, but that is a gamble for risk-takers only.
The venerable Seven Hills Winery continues to do a solid job.
