The 2008 Brunello di Montalcino wraps around the palate with layers of rich, layered fruit. Though not particularly refined, the 2008 offers plenty of early appeal. It is a typical wine from the Camigliano zone, where Brunellos tend to be built on fruit rather than structure. Dried flowers, sage and mint are woven into the supple, gracious finish. An immediate wine, the 2008 is built for near-term pleasure. I don’t see it improving much in bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2020. Importer: Vias Imports, New York, NY; tel. (212) 629-0200
