Proprietor Marc Besnardeau was a sommelier in Paris before he decided to become a grower/winemaker. This unfiltered Cotes du Rhone, made from low yields, is produced from a vineyard on the famed sun-drenched, Mistral battered Plan de Dieu in the Vaucluse. The wine reveals a spice box, cedary, fruit cake, roasted nut, and black cherry-scented nose with earth and truffles in the background. In the mouth, it is chewy, full-bodied, rustic, dense, concentrated, and mouthfilling. This chunky, husky Cotes du Rhone is soft enough to be drunk now, but promises to drink well for 3-4 years.Importer: Peter Weygandt, Weygandt-Metzler, Unionville, PA; tel (610) 486-0800
