The impressive 1995 Barbera d'Alba Pian Romualdo is a barrique-aged, single-vineyard Barbera. Made in a sexy, seductive style, it exhibits a saturated purple color, followed by a knock-out nose of blackberries and spice. Velvety-textured, with rich, chewy flavors, outstanding purity and ripeness, and a lusty finish, this offering should be consumed over the next 2-3 years. This winery has been producing better wines, particularly since its acquisition by Tuscany's Antinori family. While the wines have become more fruit-driven, they have not lost any of their varietal or terroir characteristics.A Leonardo Locasio Selection, Winebow, Hohokus, NJ; tel. (201) 445-0620
