The 2005 Roero Riserva Roche d’Ampsej is another beautiful vivid wine from Correggia. Sweet plums, cherries, tobacco, leather, menthol and French oak emerge from this layered, feminine Nebbiolo. Here the oak is perhaps a touch noticeable in the slightly dry tannins, but the purity of the fruit is nevertheless very attractive. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020. These new releases from Correggia are impressive for their consistency, drinkability and varietal trueness.
