Sweet raspberries and currants are intermingled with hints of leather in the 2001 Syrah - Grenache Cuvee Tradition Vin de Pays d'Oc. The wine is plush, thick, and mouth-coating. This velvety-textured, medium-bodied wine reveals oodles of red and black fruits in its broad character. Projected maturity: Now-2007. Robert Kacher, this estate's importer and the person responsible, has instituted a new policy for his reds from the South of France. None of them contain any press wine (the more tannic liquid produced from the actual pressing of the grapes), only free run juice. The results are wonderfully lush, aromatic offerings.Note: This is a special cuvee produced exclusively for the United States market with the assistance of the estate's American importer.Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel.
