The 2015 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Ile de Vergelesses is excellent and offers up a deep and complex bouquet of black cherry, chocolate, wild berries, game bird and rich spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and complete, with a velvety attack, a deep core and a rich tannic chassis. The Ile de Vergelesses is more structurally elegant than the Les Vergelesses bottling (which hails from lower down the slope), but it's just as concentrated and deep. I suspect this will evolve like a modern-day version of the lovely 1990.
