The 2004 Regina Vides is sourced from an 80+-year-old parcel and aged for 24 months in new French oak. Purple/black in color, the slightly reticent bouquet exhibits notes of mineral, truffle, tar, espresso, blackberry, and licorice. Dense and muscular on the palate, this layered, almost impenetrable effort is a powerful example of Tempranillo with exceptional balance and length. Give it a decade of cellaring and drink it from 2015 to 2030+. Jesus Sastre is winemaker and vineyard manager of Vina Sastre, one of Ribera del Duero's finest estates. The vineyard is organically farmed with biodynamic principles. The 2007 Roble was reviewed in Issue 181.Importer: Andre Tamers, De Maison Selections, Chapel Hill, NC; www.demaisonselections.com
