The 2006 Trebbiano d’Abruzzo is a surprisingly fat, rich wine. An exotic bouquet leads to ripe, almost candied apricots as this explosive white opens up in the glass. There is wonderful complexity and nuance to the Trebbiano. This promises to be spectacular in another few years, although it is already pretty irresistible today. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2021.
Emidio Pepe is one of Abruzzo’s reference-point producers. These traditionally made wines can show some rough edges when they are young, but they rarely disappoint when given an opportunity to mature in the cellar.
