This 21-acre domaine is better known for its white wines than its reds, but recent vintages (particularly 1990 and 1989) revealed surprisingly fruity, attractive, supple reds. The success this estate enjoyed in 1989 and 1990, and to a limited degree in 1992, was not repeated in 1993. Laleure-Piot's 1993s were some of the toughest, hardest wines I tasted, with severe tannin levels and a lack of ripe fruit to balance the hardness.
