Sweet red cherries, crushed flowers, sweet spices and tobacco all take shape as the 2010 Langhe Nebbiolo opens up in the glass. This mid-weight, perfumed Nebbiolo isn’t the last word in complexity, but it sure is delicious. The Nebbiolo is made from young vines in Trifolera and Rabaja. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018. Piercarlo Cortese describes 2009 as a very consistent year. The 2009 harvest started at the end of September, slightly ahead of normal, and finished on October 15. The Cortese Barbareschi undergo malolactic fermentation in steel and are aged exclusively in cask.
