The 2004 Hermitage Le Rouet, which is aged in about two-thirds new oak barrels, is deep ruby/purple-colored, but like so many wines of this vintage, austere, monolithic, excruciatingly tannic, and very acidic. There is good depth to the wine, but I suspect its toughness is going to present a problem as it ages, although I am giving it the benefit of the doubt at present. The well-known consulting oenologist in the Rhone Valley, Jean-Luc Colombo, has an ever-expanding negociant business for his wines. With the exception of his three estate wines of Cornas, all of the other wines listed are negociant bottlings. He is a talented winemaker and that is evidenced in his whites.Importer: Palm Bay Imports, Boca Raton, Fl; tel. (561) 362-9642
