The 2001 Pinot Bianco Tullio Zamo indicates why the wine has been Italy’s leading example of the variety since its first vintage in 1988, when it demonstrated that Chardonnay is not the only white wine suitable for barrel-aging. Made from forty year old vines in a cool vineyard where the grapes can be harvested late, the wine balances tangerine and nectarine fruit, incense, and cloves in aromas and flavors of subtlety and strength, superior both in their finesse and length.
