I have always enjoyed the Bricco del Drago, and while the 1993 and 1994 are qualitatively equal, they are made in different styles. The 1994 Bricco del Drago may be even better than the 1993. Although the color is similar, it appears slightly more saturated, with more purple in the middle. It possesses a chocolatey, black-cherry, and raspberry-scented nose with layers of sweet fruit. A blend of Dolcetto and Nebbiolo, it is a silky-textured, lush example of Bricco del Drago. The wine is layered, with an open-knit, exuberant and gutsy personality. It should drink well for 10-12 years. These are somewhat insiders' wines, but readers who love the wines of Piedmont should be sure to taste them.Importer: Empson, USA, Alexandria, VA; tel.
