Though youthfully mute and shy to begin, with coaxing the 2008 Chardonnay reveals itself as a real knock-out and a relative bargain to boot. Releasing a fragrant, flower and talc-laced perfume with a core of citrus, ripe apple and peach, the nose also has pleasant nuances of toast and cream. The palate is very intense and nervy, giving a sense of restrained concentration with lovely crisp acid cutting through. It finishes very long and very minerally. It’s tempting to drink this now, but I recommend waiting a year or so for it to open and drink it to 2019+.
