The 2002 Chiaranda is ripe and sweet in character with peach and apricot fruit, balanced oak, and a palate which combines volume, freshness, and length. I would opt for drinking this wine in the next year or two, nonetheless. Owned by a branch of the Rallo family, an historic name in Marsala, Donnafugata, with more than 650 acres of vineyards, has long been a major force in Sicily.
