Readers looking for Bordeaux-styled elegance (a Margaux perhaps?) should check out the 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap Vineyard (1,855 cases from a blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Malbec, and 5% Merlot). Elegant aromas of cherries, red and black currants, flowers, and subtle smoky oak are followed by a Cabernet with considerable precision, tremendous purity, medium body, and real intensity of flavor without a lot of weight or obvious structure. The wine’s balance is stunning. It should age beautifully for 12-15 years.
