I liked the freshness and elegance of the 2018 Calados del Puntido, which was floral and perfumed and with a medium to full-bodied palate with very fine tannins. This is pure Tempranillo from Páganos, from the 25 hectares from that vineyard, one of four that together total 45 hectares around the winery. This has good acidity and what they want to describe as iodine notes, pungent and fresh, matured in second-use French barrique (used for El Puntido before) for 16 months. 20,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2022.

A muscular red, boasting black licorice, tea rose, eucalyptus, tar and mocha notes, which serve as rich aromatic accents to a pure beam of pureed black raspberry and blackberry fruit. Though firm and tightly meshed, this is silky in texture, rippling over the palate as the flavors expand through to the long, minerally finish.
